Apple users have been dedicated fans of the company. They are always waiting for the new launches that Apple has to offer. Apple is known to be a company that brings about a revolution in the technology sector.
The year Apple is all set to roll out its iPhone 12 series. It was announced that the new iPhone would launch on October 23rd. The company has assured 5G support in all the new launches. The brand is planning to launch 4 new devices on October 23rd.
iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Max are the models that have been announced for the launch. With all four devices launching with 5G support, the browsing speed will be phenomenal, and one can enjoy uber-fast downloads.
Every launch, Apple offers some additional specifications, so we have assembled all the required information in a single article.
Release Date and Price
As we know by now, all four models will launch on October 23rd. The great news is you don’t need to wait that long to order it. The pre-order for the iPhone 12 series will commence on October 16th. However, the iPhone 12 mini won’t be available for pre-order before November 6th as its launch date is set for November 13th.
The pre-orders are currently only announced for the US, UK, Germany, Japan, and Australia, and there has been no official announced regarding pre-orders in India. The starting price for the iPhone 12 series in India is set at Rs 69,900, which is much higher than the launch price of the iPhone 11.
This might be due to the introduction of 5G technology in the iPhone 12 series. Not to be disappointed, the company might as always integrate with mobile networks to provide great deals and discounts. We can expect Vodafone, Airtel, and Jio as top candidates for this deal.
The iPhone 12 mini has been priced at Rs. 69,900 for the 64Gb variant and at Rs. 74,500, and Rs. 84,900 for the 128GB and 256GB variants respectively. This is the cheapest model in comparison to all the 4 to be launched in the series.
iPhone 12, on the other hand, starts at a higher price in comparison to the iPhone 12 mini. It is priced at Rs 79,900 for the 64Gb model, Rs. 84,900 for the 128Gb model, and Rs. 94,900 for the 256Gb model. The iPhone 12 Pro is priced premium at Rs. 1,19,900 for the 128GB model, Rs. 1,29,900 for the 256GB variant and the high-end 512GB model at Rs. 1,49,900.
The final model, iPhone 12 Max, being launched in this series is priced at Rs. 1,29,900 for the 128GB model, Rs. 1,39,900 for the 256GB variant and finally at Rs. 1,59,900 for the 512GB storage model.
The all-new design and display
The all-new iPhone 12 is designed into a 6.1-inch screen with the highest quality display. There is a notch on top of the display for the camera and sensors, similar to the iPhone family’s recent launches.
The new series is supposed to be launched in a variety of 5 different colors; vibrant shades of red, blue, black, white, and green, as seen in the image below. All the colors look spectacular and eye-catching.
The outer body framework of the phone is built-in aluminum, and the edges appear to be less curved. Similar to the previous models the back of the iPhone is made of glass but the company encourages us to state that the glass technology is made sturdier to make it more durable to use.
The dimensions of the new iPhone 12 are 146.7 x 71.5 x 7.4mm and it weighs about 162 gm. The new model is compact and it supposedly thinner, and lighter than iPhone 11. The display comes with the Super Retina XDR technology and has IP68 water and dust resistance.
The phone’s left side has the volume and switch buttons while the right side houses the power button.
The 5G network
The new iPhone series supports 5G, so we can call this purchase an investment piece as you need not change your phone when the network providers decide to roll out 5G.
Although many Android users have already gotten access to 5G enabled smartphones, iPhone 12 series is 1st amongst the Apple models to support 5G. In theory, the phone claims to support up to 4Gbps, but the testings have shown for it to reach up to 1.4Gbps which is also a really good speed on a smartphone.
Pertaining to the fact that you don’t always need such high-speed connectivity all the time, the phone comes with a data switch to switch between 5G and 4G so that you can use your data more efficiently.
The power chip being used in these models is the same as the one we’ve seen in iPad Air which is much faster than the one we have seen in iPhone 11. Apple has gone as far as to claim that it is the fasted chip ever and the techies can’t wait to review these claims.
As always there is no external microSD support available and we all know that 64Gb is never enough for storage. The phones come in 64Gb, 128Gb, and 256Gb variants and the premium models have an extra 512Gb variant. The base iOS on these devices will be iOS 14 which is the latest version running in the market.
The series is being launched with a dual camera with a 12MP wide-angle lens (f/1.6) and a 12MP ultra-wide (f/2.4) which gives about a 120-degree view at once. There have been improvements made in the Night Mode and the overall computational photography has been upgraded for clicking pictures with better contrast and colors.
A 27% improvement in low-light photography is being claimed in comparison to the iPhone 11. Same as previous models, the camera will have Portrait mode, 5x zoom, and 4k video shooting options. The fps available in video mode are 24, 30, and 60.
The selfie camera provided comes with a 12MP lens (f/2.2). The camera is supposed to be the same one as on iPhone 11. Due to high-quality face detection technology, there is no fingerprint scanner provided on the device.
Apple claims the new iPhone 12 series to have a battery backup of almost 16 hours of phone stored video play-back but the truth about these claims can only be verified once the phones are launched and reviewed by reliable sources.
The phone supports fast charging and can go from 0 to 50% in 30 minutes. But to support this, you need to make an additional purchase of the 12W charger. The phones also support safe wireless charging for effortless use.
The box contents
Apple is always surprising or shocking its fans with some news or the other. Every launch gives us some kind of unexpected news and we are all taken aback. Apple has announced there will be no charging brick available in any of the iPhone 12 series models, to be a better cause in helping the environment.
These phones won’t have anything special in terms of accessories in the box. The box will come with a phone and a charger cable (USB C to lightning type). Apple has refrained from providing the charging brick in the box but you can use the ones from the older model.
You need to buy the charging brick separately if you do not own one from the previous models. The box is designed to be compact with only the phone, cable, and documentation in it.
